This is a Test
This is my sandbox for playing with creating new websites. As mentioned in the message sent out to the Facebook group, this site currently has some very rough work that shows how we might be able to use this Drupal platform to run the website in the future. I have some menu items up top - Eyak Dictionary and English Dictionary are dynamically created, pulling in all of the Dictionary Words that get added and displaying them in alphabetical order in their respective languages. Add it once, and the system takes case of putting it in both dictionaries for you. These words could also be sorted and grouped in a bunch of different ways if we wanted to. A lot of flexibility is built into the system.
You can create a new Dictionary Word if you log in and click the "Add a Word" link that I put in the left sidebar. Embedding video is currently being a little wonky, so don't try to add a video to words quite yet (should get that working soon).
I still intend to improve the audio playback. Right now it is just a link to an audio file. We will ultimately have a Flash and / or HTML5 player and possibly a jukebox/playlist management system so people could select whichever words they want to have playing. That could allow us to eventually establish lesson plans that provide all words on a given theme/subject in a nice, unified player.
Note that when you are logged in you will see a "Review" text box on all of the pages. This is a place where comments can be made by all logged-in users, allowing you to provide feedback right on the site. I can set up a forum, as well.
There is also a very rough Flash animation / game that I link to in the menu. More information is on that page ... it is the framework for what could ultimately turn into an interactive Flash application that lets people click on an image in an animated scene and have the word written and spoken.
